Josh Beauchaine

Josh Beauchaine is the Founder and President of Hope Care & Counseling. In addition to being a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Josh is also an ordained minister.

Josh specializes in personal and relationship development working with individual and couples to help them deepen their ability for connection and intimacy. Josh also has extensive experience in working with teenagers and their parents to help them both survive the adolescent process.

Having over 15 years of counseling experience ranging from working with elementary students, severely emotional disturbed adolescents, typical teenagers, premarital couples, couples in marriage crisis, and couples dealing with the loss of a child, affords Josh a unique ability to connect with a broad range of human experience.

Josh holds a Master's Degree in Counseling from Cal State Fullerton, and a Bachelor's of Arts in applied communications from Point Loma Nazarene University. Previous positions in his counseling career have included: Assistant Elementary School Counselor, Supervisor of a Level 14 residential treatment center for severely emotionally disturbed adolescents, Area Director for Young Life, a Christian youth outreach program.

Josh has been married to his wife Kim for over 12 years and has three sons. His hobbies include, golf, football, fishing, working on his Korean War Jeep, and connecting with his family and friends.

 

John Hernandez

juanJohn Hernandez is an Individual, Marriage and Family Therapist Intern with over five years of counseling experience. John's passion is working with individuals, couples and families in order to facilitate personal growth and emotional self-awareness with oneself and within relationships.  John’s eclectic and relational approach to therapy offers a safe and compassionate environment for his clients.  John is also trained in EMDR therapy.

John holds an A.A. in the Administration of Justice from Northern Virginia College, as well as having graduated with honors with both a B.A. in Psychology, and an M.S. in Clinical Psychology from Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, CA. John’s background includes additional coursework at Tulane University in New Orleans.

John's past experience includes a position as a therapist with the U.S. Navy/Marine Corps, a counselor with Prison Fellowship Ministries working with federal level inmates, a juvenile probation officer with the State of Virginia, and as a therapist for a foster care organization working with severely abused teens. John is also a founding partner of New Vision for Africa.
Additionally, John has served a tour of duty with the U.S. Marine Corps providing security for the President at Camp David, Maryland.

John has been married for three years and enjoys spending time with his wife, rowing, endurance horse riding, motorcycles, surfing and is an avid sports fan.

 

 

 

Kristen Howerton - Clinical Director

kenKristen Howerton is a Marriage and Family Therapist with seven years of experience working in the field of counseling, marriage, and addiction. She is known for her creative, direct style and integrative approach to dealing with current struggles and past hurts.

Kristen specializes in working with couples and family relationships. She has spoken at parenting seminars in Orange County, and has written two workbooks for improving marital relationships. Kristen enjoys finding creative solutions for families that feel 'stuck'.

Kristen is an adjunct professor at Vanguard University, where she teaches on addiction and sexual health in the Graduate Psychology. She is the mother of two children, and has been married to her husband Mark for eleven years. She attends Rock Harbor Church in Costa Mesa, California.

 

Mark Howerton

markMark Howerton has over ten years of experience working in the field of counseling and addiction. Mark is known for his relaxed style and warm, charismatic personality. He brings great insight and wisdom while maintaining compassion and a sense of humor. A popular speaker, Mark's spontaneous approach to life and healing have provided inspiration to many people struggling with life’s challenges. Mark founded the REFUGE, the recovery/support programs at ROCKHARBOR Church, and brings an extensive knowledge for individuals desiring personal and relational healing in their lives.
 
Mark's greatest goal is to help others develop into a healthy and whole individual, and to embrace life's journey. In his own life, a life-threatening car accident gave Mark first-hand experience in overcoming trauma, chronic pain, and medication dependence, and motivated him to live life in the moment. He has a personal passion for living each day to the fullest, enjoying each day of life as a gift, and maximizing life with healthy relationships. Mark helps others to actualize the value of their individual being and inspires them to experience their maximum potential.
 
In the therapeutic process, Mark empowers the client to discover his or her own resolve, while at the same time directing the client into a safe path of self-discovery. Mark brings a balance of psychology and spirituality in his approach to working with clients. With an undergraduate degree in Biblical Studies and a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology, Mark is able to blend the emotional, physical, and spiritual components of personal growth. Mark's background as a Pastor allows him to meet each client right where they are, guiding them through their own unique spiritual journey. Mark seeks to move people to a greater understanding of God, themselves, and others, while help to remove the shame and guilt often associated with organized religion.
